Hennepin Youth Sports Program awards spring applicants, fall opportunity available now

After consideration of recommendations made by the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission (MASC), the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners selected four playground projects and 21 small equipment requests to receive grant funding to equal $224,823 from the 2021 spring installment of the Hennepin Youth Sports Program (HYSP).

Funded by the 0.15% sales tax surcharge in Hennepin County, the program awards funds to Hennepin County municipalities, park districts and schools to create, expand or improve recreational facilities and to purchase new equipment.

Equipment awardees include:

Corcoran, City of
Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board
Minneapolis Public Schools
New Hope, City of
Orono, City of
Richfield Public Schools
Rockford ISD 883

Playground awardees include:

Dayton, City of
Edina ISD 273
New Hope, City of
Shorewood, City of

Applications for are now available for the 2021 fall installment of the program. Awards will be considered for equipment and facilities. Submissions are due November 1, 2021.
